Dental Crowns

Crowns are often the best option for people with badly decayed or broken teeth. When cavities and infection go untreated, they can eventually cause enough damage to the structure of a tooth beyond what a filling can restore. Teeth that have been fractured as a result of an injury or accident may also need to be covered and protected, usually with a crown.

At Triunity Family Dental, we focus on providing incredibly strong and natural-looking crowns to restore the strength, shape, and appearance of a tooth. Our goal is to help you keep all your teeth–even damaged ones–with our safe, minimally invasive, high-tech treatment options.  A single visit crown, may be the best option.

How Do Dental Crowns Work?

A crown (also often called a cap) covers the entire surface of a damaged tooth and restores it to its original shape and size.

When you come into Triunity Family Dental for a crown, we’ll use the latest digital x-ray and laser diagnostic technologies to determine the extent of the damage to your tooth structure. We’ll help you decide if a dental crown is a right choice for you.

If you decide to get a crown, we will:

  • Carefully clean and remove all the decay from your tooth
  • Take a highly accurate 3D image of your tooth
  • Use those 3D renderings to make a custom crown for you
  • Cement the new crown to the surface of your tooth a few days later

Crowns are custom-made for you, and we use different materials including tooth-colored porcelain so the result is almost indistinguishable from real teeth.

Did You Know?

Most traditional crowns require the dentist to take physical impressions of your teeth and send them to a laboratory where the crown is created. We also use intra-oral scanning techniques in Triunity Family Dental. This is the process that allows us to take 3D digital images of your teeth instead of taking physical impressions.

Is a Dental Crown Your Best Choice?

Some dental problems, like missing teeth or teeth that have significant structural damage, call for more intensive solutions, like dental bridges or dental implants.

Crowns are most effective when we place them before the tooth is so decayed that it is in danger of fracturing.

Some Advantages of Crowns

Materials Our non-toxic, non-metal, porcelain material is safe to wear long term.
Appearance Crowns are made to perfectly match the shape and color of your original tooth.
Comfort Minimally invasive techniques and a perfectly fitting crown ensure long-term comfort.
Durability Well-made crowns are highly durable and prevent future tooth decay and breakage.

Our Minimally Invasive Process

At Triunity Family Dental, our approach to composite fillings is simple. We use the latest digital x-ray and diagnostic technologies, as well as years of experience to help you understand the health of your teeth.  We’ll talk with you about:

  • The tooth decay on any portion of your teeth
  • The state of your current old-fashioned, mercury (silver) fillings
  • Risk factors that predispose you to tooth decay
  • And your desire to maintain a natural, white, and healthy smile for a lifetime

You’ll learn more about the advantages of composite fillings, as well as our process for removing decay, improving the health of your teeth and restoring your smile. Additionally, we may recommend alternative treatments like crowns, inlays, or onlays, which may be the only option in cases of serious and extensive decay.
